Compassionate counselling for children, teens and young adults.
Compassionate counselling for children, teens and young adults.
My journey into the field of psychotherapy began with my studies at King’s University College, where I pursued an Honours Specialization in Childhood and Social Institutions, a program focused on children’s development and advocacy, alongside a major in Thanatology, the
study of death and grief. These academic experiences deepened my understanding of how children experience the world and how grief shapes individuals and families. After earning my B.A. from King’s, I went on to pursue my Master’s in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.
I have spent years working in the field of grief support, primarily with bereaved children, helping them navigate the complexities of loss and find ways to cope and heal.
Born and raised in Sarnia, ON, I am deeply connected to this community and passionate about supporting local mental health needs. When I’m not working, I’m a homebody who loves spending time with family, friends, and my cats.
Drawing from various modalities, my approach is person-centered, strengths-based, and trauma-informed, meaning our work together will be tailored to your unique experiences and needs. I believe in meeting you where you are, offering a safe and non-judgmental space to process your thoughts and emotions while building the tools that feel most helpful to you.
My goal is to create a safe, inclusive, neutral, and supportive space where individuals can explore their emotions, challenges, and goals.
I am also dedicated to debunking grief myths that often dominate societal narratives, helping individuals embrace their unique grieving processes without judgment or unrealistic expectations.
Supporting children, whose voices are too often overlooked, is another key focus of my work. I strive to amplify their perspectives and ensure they feel heard and valued.
I specialize in working with bereaved children, teens and adults, helping them navigate the complexities of grief and loss.
Another key focus of mine is supporting children, teens and young adults through challenges such as anxiety, self-esteem, depression, life transitions, family dynamics and general life stressors.
I also support caregivers aiming to better understand and support their children.
When you begin counselling, you can expect to discuss your goals, current challenges, and
personal history with your therapist. Sessions are tailored to your needs and may involve
exploring emotions, identifying patterns in thoughts and behaviours, and learning practical
strategies to manage stress, anxiety, or other concerns.
Therapy is not a quick fix—it’s a journey that requires time, patience, and a willingness to try new approaches. Over time, you’ll develop insights and tools to help you navigate life’s challenges with greater
confidence and clarity.
Counselling for children often involves creative and age-appropriate activities to help them
express their emotions and experiences. For younger children, this might include play
therapy techniques, while older children and teens may engage in discussions or activities
that explore their feelings and coping strategies.
When families are involved, sessions may include opportunities to work on communication,
understanding each other’s perspectives, and finding ways to support one another. It’s important to approach therapy with patience and an open mind, as progress often unfolds gradually as trust is built and new skills are developed.

Yes, you are welcome to attend counselling sessions with your child. My primary focus is always on the hopes and goals of the child, ensuring their needs are at the center of our work. Some children may prefer having their caregiver present during sessions, especially at the beginning. However, there may also be times when one-on-one work with the child is more beneficial for their progress.
I will work together with the child and their caregivers to determine the best flow for sessions. This collaborative approach helps ensure that your child feels supported while also providing opportunities for them to develop their independence and confidence in a safe, therapeutic environment.
A sliding scale is a flexible pricing structure that allows clients to pay for counselling services based on their financial circumstances. It helps make therapy more accessible for those who may not be able to afford standard session rates.
I offer a limited number of sliding scale spaces for clients who need financial support to access counselling. If these spaces are currently full or if you're seeking lower-cost counselling options, I’d be happy to help refer or connect you with another counsellor or service in the community that fits your needs.
The frequency of counselling sessions will depend on your individual needs and goals. Some clients may benefit from weekly sessions, while others may attend bi-weekly or monthly.
Yes, this is definitely a possibility! While I have specific areas of focus, I work with a wide range of clients and concerns. I would recommend inquiring about a consultation call so we can discuss your needs and goals. This will help us determine if we might make a good therapeutic fit. If it turns out that I’m not the best match for your needs, I’d be happy to help connect you with another therapist who may be better suited to support you.
